3 Key Elements... in this wire jewelry technique for eye pin making.

A. Wire Diameter

You start by choosing the wire diameter or gauge that you want to use to make a simple loop for a eye pin.

B. Position On Round Nose Pliers

1...		Mark your pliers where you want to make your simple loop for your eye pin...
2...		Make a simple full-circle-loop with a roll-bend. Make the circle-loop at the spot where you have marked your round nose pliers.
3...		Mark the wire with a permanent marker on the longer piece of wire. Where? Where the end of the wire meets the longer piece of wire... Just look at the picture...
4...		Unroll the wire. I use my round nose pliers. Make the wire as straight as possible with your flat nose or chain nose pliers. You want the wire flat enough to make an accurate measurement... But, you don't have to spend a lot of time to make it perfectly straight.
5...		Measure the length of wire from the mark you made to the unrolled end.

C. The Answer

The Answer that you get in this wire jewelry technique is...
the length of the wire that you need to bend over 90 degrees.
This is the first step to make a simple loop anywhere...
However, it works only for that specific wire diameter/gauge and
position on your round nose pliers.

Tip

Keep a sample with a label or notes of the loop. This will save you from doing this exercise over and over...
When you do this calculation start by making two identical full-circle-loops.
But, unroll only the one and keep the other as a sample.

Record of the Full Story
If you keep the rolled and unrolled samples, you "keep a record" of the position on the round nose pliers and the diameter of the wire you used. You will also have the length of wire that you need to bend 90 degrees.

Say you end up using only one or two wire diameters and one or two circle diameters. Your eye will probably be trained to gauge the correct length of wire to bend 90 degrees sooner than you think.
