Wire gauge calculator page... You are welcome to bookmark and use the calculator-converter, or even better you can take it with you.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found that I referred back to the wire gauge chart of my own website. I know I made it myself, but here on the website it is easy to find.
I think you are going to like this calculator! I find that it replaces my need for the wire gauge chart
... unless I need the information printed out.
Widgetbox discontinued their service - they
no longer exist anymore! Wire Gauge Chart
How do you take the wire gauge calculator with you?
Click on "get widget" button and follow the instructions to take the widget to your website, blog or favorite social networking website... iGoogle, Blogger, TypePad, etc.
This is the beta version of the calculator.
I have tested the calculator and have found no bugs.
What does it do?
If you enter the gauge size...
The calculator will give you the millimeter and inch diameters.
If you enter the millimeter diameter...
The calculator will give you the inch diameter and the gauge size.
If you enter the inch diameter...
The calculator will give you the millimeter diameter and the gauge size.
So, in short, just start typing in some values.
It looks far more complicated explained in words than it really is.
Do you (like me) also need to convert millimeters to inches and the other way round? Ignore the gauge reading and use the calculator to do the conversion of millimeters to inches and inches to millimeters.
If you type a diameter value of 0.0029 inches and smaller you will get the message "value out of range" in the gauge output.
If you type a diameter value of 0.076 mm and smaller you will get the message "value out of range" in the gauge output.
I used 40 gauge as the cut-of-point for the calculator.
If you are interested to know how the values are rounded...
Gauge results are rounded to the nearest integer. For example...
If the answer according to the calculation is 28.6666 gauge, the calculator will display 29 gauge.
If the answer according to the calculation is 28.3333 gauge, the calculator will display 28 gauge.
Millimeter results are rounded to two decimals. For example...
If the answer according to the calculation is 0.075553545 mm, the calculator will display 0.08 mm.
If the answer according to the calculation is 0.073443213 mm the calculator will display 0.07 mm.
Inch results are rounded to three decimals. For example...
If the answer according to the calculation is 0.00575553545 inch, the calculator will display 0.006 inch.
If the answer according to the calculation is 0.00532343213 inch, the calculator will display 0.005 inch.
The formulas to calculate diameter (inch and millimeter) from the wire gauge are used at all times.
